3D Bark Experiments

Exploring some quick stylised bark looks in 3d using Blender.

How?

Using a single piece of bark with a slight random material colour per particle instance, you take your tree trunk shape and apply a particle hair system with the bark as the renderable object.

More exploration

This isn’t a photorealistic look, however it gives the right impression and could be a good enough look for a background prop.
